About Us
Chase PaR Network was established by PhD researcher’s Lisa Lapidge, University of Essex and Jilliene Sellner, Goldsmiths University as part of the CHASE Cohort Development Fund.
Aims and Ethos
The Practice as Research Network’s establishing aim is to address a clear gap in provision with regards to training, dissemination and promotion of Practice as Research (PaR) PhDs specifically. The network aims to create a home for PaR students and academics that creates belonging in three distinct ways.
1) A network where they can learn more about the many ways in which PaR is undertaken through training events, talks and practical demonstrations.
2) An online home (website & associated social media) where resources, links, profiles and examples of best practice can be accessed.
3) A support network where students can be supported in the unique PaR aspects of their PhDs.
Relevant subject areas span across the Arts and Humanities and include disciplines such as acting, music, live art, literature, dance, film-making and directing. More broadly the network will address a growing and diverse research methodology, with the aim of celebrating, promoting and engaging critically with its role within the academy. The network is committed to supporting and promoting the development of the methodology and in creating a home for PaR at CHASE that supports and enhances the research undertaken.
